Mastery (AWAITING NEW VENUE)

On mastering the art of leather and rubber

London's greatest fetish bar, The Backstreet, opened in 1985. By the early 2010s, the bar was somewhat in need of a boot up the arse. And sure enough, on Friday 31 January 2014, Bruce 'Brew' Hunter staged his inaugural "leather, smoke & submission" night, Mastery ("for men & their boys"), an instant success, on occasion pulling in up to 130 or 140 men. Hunter then kept it perky with Mastery offshoots, including his cigar-heavy Smokehouse nights. But then on 17 July 2022, after 37 years, Backstreet closed, leaving Hunter on the prowl for a new location. Watch this space.
