The Cock Tavern Formerly: South London Pacific

East End gay sensibility ventures south of the river

A south London venture for the people behind the sadly departed Nelsons Head pub in Bethnal Green, who in January 2018 moved into this Tiki-style pub and emphasised the Georgian elements, to "Georgian Tiki" effect (with a back area leftover intact from its Afro-Caribbean predecessors). The free house establishment is no stranger to slings, sours, Manhattans, martinis and Negronis (billed as "well-priced"). Music is reassuringly familiar 1990s-poppy, with a hint of olde-worlde-G-A-Y about it. More vanilla than indie. Closed Monday, Tuesday. and Wednesday. Tube station: Kennington.
