John the Unicorn (aka JTU)

A near-plush, comfy-designery south London pub opened in 2017 and which a year later, owing to a new general manager, became a queer-friendly "safe space". Queer quiz All of Northing happens every Wednesday, and there's an upstairs bar at weekends. And food is a thing here too, with a certain attention to detail. Also known as simply 'John', the bar is marked by a greatest hits of interior design including industrial brickwork, exposed beams, textured wallpaper and marble surfaces in the ground floor lounge alone. Private room The Blessing (with banquettes) is available to rent. No terrace or patio. Smoking out front only. Previously connected to Antic Collective, then forced to switch to Portobello Brewing. Located a five-minute walk from Peckham Rye Overground. AKA JTU.
