C&R Café-Restaurant, Chinatown

No ratings yet
Laksa and more

A recommended Malaysian-leaning Chinatown hideaway that serves Malaysian, Chinese and Malay-Indian dishes, with a special mention to the signature (and swampy/filling) laksa noodle soup dish. Started in 1999 and tucked away in an alley between Wardour St and Rupert St, just by the Pizza Express, C&R offers very good food at budget prices, with decor that registers as slightly more tasteful and knowing than your typical Chinatown establishment. Since 2005 noodle-and-rice Malaysian breakfasts have been served in a small space just opposite (4 Rupert Ct), open from 8am until noon. The name C&R refers to the manager's uncle (Chung) and aunt (Rosa), who started the restaurant.
