Jasper Morrison Shop

A pint-sized two-room retail outlet for London-born designer Jasper Morrison, located next to his studio in Shoreditch/Hoxton, accessed via a plain black door (marked by just the number 24B) on the bustling Kingsland Rd, just around the corner from the George & Dragon pub [see entry], about a seven-minute walk from both Old Street tube and Hoxton Overground stations. There's a great and near-quirky range of objects here, most of them smaller than a breadbox, many designed by Morrison, who tweaks familiar kitchen and domestic items to beautiful and/or interesting effect. What you'll find here are "products from around the world, many of which have been designed anonymously but have about them a subtle quality which make them better everyday performers". Opened 2008. During the annual London Design Festival in September, the shop remains open for extended hours, plus Saturday.
