Fopp (Covent Garden)

(2 Ratings)
Budget-conscious haven for DVDs, CDs, LPs and more

Originally a Glasgow music shop, from 1981, Fopp expanded well beyond its Scottish borders in the years leading up to 2007, when it ran into trouble too convoluted to detail here, resulting in its takeover/salvage by music giant HMV, which in December 2018 once fell into administration, now under the domain of Sunrise Records. But Fopp kept going. With five thriving UK-wide locations as of 2022 (down from seven in 2019), Fopp remains a friendly music-and-movie enterprise with integrity and delectably discounted prices.

With the loss of Virgin and HMV, this is the best place to shop for CDs, DVDs and other items. You will need an international player for your DVD player, but you can get things for a few pounds. I got Die Hard, A Monster Calls and Local Hero for a L3 each!
